Chat 1: April 18th
Chat 2: May 9th

Primary works due: September 13th
Complementary claims open: September 20th
Mandatory checkpoint for complementary creators: October 22nd
Complementary works due: November 19th

In light of current events we have been discussing the possibility of pushing back our 2020 deadlines in order to give folks a little more breathing space. However, we also know that having a firm schedule can be helpful for some people, and we want to be considerate of that, so we're looking to get some input from all of you! Please chime in by commenting below and let us know how you feel and what makes sense for you.

Thanks <3

Dear Friends,

It's been an incredible experience getting to know all of you and working with you all over the past five years of the ds/c6d big bang. We have had an amazing time writing, reading, listening, and supporting all of you. However, both our lives are very different now and we are reaching a point where we need to make some hard decisions. We have talked about it a lot and we think the time has come to hand the big bang off to someone else, as it was handed off to us by [personal profile] akamine_chan  and [personal profile] glitteryv . It's painful, but it's the course of action that's best for the challenge and best for us as well. But fear not! We have an outstanding new mod who has already volunteered - [personal profile] feroxargentea . We have every confidence in her ability to carry on this wonderful challenge, but she will need help. This challenge is too big for just one person, and Ferox has said she’ll need a hand to make this work. Anyone interested?

UPDATE: We have a volunteer! Welcome to missionlameturtle from tumblr!

Hi! Hello! And yes, it's a few minutes early, but my Saturday is BOOKED, y'all. So welcome to the one and only MANDATORY check in for this year's Big Bang. And just like it says in the header, we need to hear from EVERYONE, please, primary and Complementary both. Just like last year, though it's required, we're keeping it super low-key.

All we really need is for you to comment and give a general update, and a feel for how close you are to done. Oh, and if for some reason you have NOT had contact with your Primary/Complementary person, we need to know that ASAP so we can follow up.

Sound easy? I hope so, because we want you focused on the fun of completing your project!

Thank you all most kindly.

Hello there! We still have two works needing to be claimed. If you didn't sign up to do a Complementary fanwork, but are interested - take a look at the Claims Post and if one of them strikes your fancy - go for it! Just please add the following when you claim a work (unless we have your info from signing up as a Primary):

LJ/DW/AO3/etc name:
Creator name:
Best way to contact me (PM, or email addy here, please:
Medium?:

Or if you did sign up and have one claim already, by are certain you can do two justice in the time left - go for it!

Or OR if you have done your Primary and are dying to do more for this big bang - go for it!
mizface: (c6dbb-mod)
[personal profile] mizface
And now, a few hours later than hoped (sorry!) we are LIVE for claiming! Anyone who signed up as a complement creator (ask us if you’re not sure!) may post a comment here with the number of your choice. You may list as many numbers as you would like, and we will assign each complement creator their highest ranked choice that is still available. For example, if the first comment posted requests “1, 2, 3” and the second commenter requests “1, 2, 3”, the first commenter will be assigned to work #1 and the second commenter to work #2. If the third commenter requests “1, 2”, they will not be assigned a work and we will move on to commenter #4. The third commenter is welcome to comment again and request a different work, but their requests will be honored in order of the second comment they post. If we make it through all the primary works and still have complement creators looking to match up, we’ll open things up for another round. Similarly, if we still have primary works needing to be claimed, we'll open it up to those who had not signed up, then we'll let people claim 2 works if we still need to make matches. Make sense? Feel free to ask questions!

Hi there everyone! Below are the primary work submissions for this year's Due South/Canadian Six Degrees Big Bang. Primary creators - LOOK AT THE LIST AND MAKE SURE YOU'RE ON IT. We need any changes ASAP.

COMPLEMENT CREATORS, it's time for you to do your thing. Here’s how this will work. Below is a list of all the creations for this year's big bang. For each primary work, the characters/pairings are listed along with the approximate size and a summary that should include any relevant warnings. On Friday, at precisely When Miz Gets Off Work O'Clock (around 6:30pm Eastern), she will make another post to the community titled CLAIMS POST that will have all the summaries listed again and claims will open up.

Anyone who signed up as a complement creator (ask us if you’re not sure!) may post a comment on THE CLAIMS POST with the number of your choice.

Hey guys! Drafts are due tomorrow by email to dsc6dbbmod at gmail dot com. I know some of you want to see how it will look on AO3, so here are the instructions for posting to the 2017 ds/c6d big bang collection. The collection is HERE and detailed instructions for how to post can be found below the cut. Anything you post will be "unrevealed", so only you (and the mods) will be able to see it. You'll be able to edit/fiddle with it after posting. If you're not ready for this, don't worry - posts aren't due on AO3 until October 2nd, so just bookmark this and carry on with however you're working. *shakes the pom poms*

It's coming up on chat time again! After looking at our schedules, the time we've chosen for this chat will be Sunday, July 23, starting at 10am EST.

Here's the time converter for your convenience.

As with of our chats, this will be very informal (because that's just how we roll), with some talk about how we're doing with the challenge, brainstorming, any questions/concerns/etc, and general squee, cheerleading and random off-topic hilarity. Oh, and you don't have to be a creator to come to a chat - the more the merrier! If you're looking for some brainstorming/handholding/venting time, this is the place!

As in previous years, the chats will be on Skype, and for those who don't have an account, it's free, and signing up is fairly quick and painless. Here is the link to Skype if you need to get started.

Once you have a Skype account, go to Contact -> Add contacts and search for hazelwho or mizface68 and add us. Once you've done that, we can add you to the chat group. If you have trouble finding us that way, you can search by email:
hazel.eraser at gmail dot com
mizface at comcast dot net

Questions? Comments? Let us know!

We are soooooooo excited, and hope you can make it on the 23rd!

Welcome to the first checkpoint of this year's big bang! This is the one that isn't mandatory so if you want to skip it that's fine. And if you haven't started yet please don't panic, you still have plenty of time.

Here is how the checkpoint will work. We are keeping a list of everyone who has signed up and what they are doing. We would like to add to the list current Author Word Counts/Creator Progress (and yes, we totally get how subjective that second one can be), so that is what we need from you. Please indulge our need to make colorful spreadsheets :)

Comment to the post with the below filled out. Only skip what you aren't sure about yet.

Also, if you need to drop out for whatever reason, you can either post that here, or PM either of your friendly neighborhood mods. We promise that while we might not get to you right away (I'll spare you my RL craziness), we will respond.

Thanks to all who participated in the poll! After looking at that (and revisiting our schedules), the time we've chosen for the first chat will be Saturday, April 29, from 6-10pm EST.

If you've never been to one of our chats, here's the scoop: they are very informal (because that's just how we roll), with some talk about what we're thinking about doing for the challenge, whether or not we've started, brainstorming, any questions/concerns/etc, and general squee, cheerleading and random off-topic hilarity. Oh, and you don't have to be a creator to come to a chat - the more the merrier! If you're looking for some brainstorming/handholding/venting time, this is the place!

Hello and welcome (or in some cases, welcome back) to everyone signed up for this year's dS/C6D Big Bang! We are super-happy and excited to see how many folks signed up this year, but for primaries and complements (or both)!

As you might have noticed, our calendar has a couple of dates that are in flux. And that's where the poll comes in. Can y'all please let us know which of the following dates and approximate times would be most convenient for a group chat? I'm putting them in 4-hour blocks (though chats have never gone that long), and all times are EST.

Poll #18136 Chat #1
Open to: Registered Users, detailed results viewable to: All, participants: 6

When Should Chat #1 be held?

Woohoo - it's the Eleventh of March! And Buck Frobisher thinks that YOU should come sign up for this year's big bang! [personal profile] hazelwho and I are, as always, incredibly excited to be running this again. Seriously. We've been talking about it for days (to each other and anyone who will listen). Please don't worry if we don't respond to your sign up right away - it may be the weekend, but that doesn't make it any less busy (especially since I'm having a belated family bday party for ZP today).

If you have any questions about how this is going to go (which is frighteningly similar to the 2016 version, btw), please check out The Rules and FAQ Page.

We will be having both checkpoints and chats again this year. The September check-in for ALL creatorsis the only one that is mandatory, but we encourage you to participate in all that you can. Especially the chats, which in the past were proven to be excellent for brainstorming, moral support, oftentimes hilarious tangents, group therapy and commiseration and everything else you're going to need to get through this. We will be posting a poll for the first chat date once sign-ups close.

Remember, as always, there are no penalties for dropping out. RL happens, writer's/artist’s block happens. If you drop out, we'll give you a hug and hope to see you the next round.

If you are an art-y type, artist specific information can be found at either The Rules or FAQ Page. The definition of "art" is very encompassing - there's probably an "art" of some sort that everyone can do.

Sign-ups for Primary and Complementary fanworks start today, March 11, 2017 and will end March 31, 2017. If more creators for Complementary pieces are needed, a second round of sign-ups will take place at a later date.

If you are signing up for BOTH Primary and Complementary fanworks, please leave a separate comment for each.

Copy the coding from the block below, and paste it into a comment. Then fill it out.

COME PLAAAAAYYY! *bounces*

In preparation for the sign ups going live, I thought it would be good to have a nice linky linky post for the rules and FAQs. They are unchanged from last year, so that makes it pretty easy :)

Here are the Rules

And here are the FAQs

As always, if you have any questions, please comment, or PM one of your friendly neighborhood mods. I am sure there are things we forgot :)

Looking forward to starting up this weekend! And hey, if you can, feel free to spread the word, especially on Tumblr, where I hear there's a good dS presence.

Hey everyone - Hazel and I have conferred, and figured out a calendar (which you can find on the profile page). It's pretty similar to last year, but streamlined with fewer chats and checkpoints.

That said, Sign Ups will open a week from today. We're very excited and hope y'all are too!
