Date: 2022-04-01 05:58 pm (UTC)1) Is there a deadline for sign-ups? Can I still sign up?
Also, 2) is a sequel to a fic in another fanfic author's 'verse acceptable (assuming they have given permission or blanket permission, it's still standalone, & it's min 20K words)?
It's not a remix, it is the immediate & short-to-medium term aftermath of the original fic (& remix)... So that would be considered a sequel (right?). It picks up where the original fic (& the remix) left off. I've been working on it for a couple of years. I plan a "choose your own ending" ending to my sequel.
The original & existing remix are archive-warning noncon, canon atypical behavior Fraser/Kowalski slash fics. My fic is intended to be a plausible aftermath sequel with choose your own ending: acceptable-resolution-together/unacceptable-resolution-apart/acceptable-resolution-apart ending. (Basically happy-together/unhappy-apart/acceptance-apart choices.)
It is entirely possible that I would only finish one of the 3 possible choose-your-own-ending endings by the deadline. But since that is an ending, 3) I'm wondering if finishing at least one ending is acceptable (if any of this is acceptable!...) even if I don't finish the other 2 endings by the primary deadline.
None of it is posted anywhere. The original fic & remix are on AO3.

Date: 2022-04-01 06:18 pm (UTC)1) There's no deadline for sign-ups and we'd love you to sign up!
2) As long as the original author(s) is okay with sequels, and as long as your fic is 20K previously unpublished words, complete and standalone (in the sense of working as a story in its own right, without a reader needing to have read previous fics or needing to wait for future parts for it to feel complete) then it would fit the rules for the Big Bang. If you then want to add extra bits/sequels/alt endings afterwards, that's up to you! We only require one ending by the deadline, although extra ones sound intriguing :)

Date: 2022-04-01 07:29 pm (UTC)I didn't get specific permission from either author when I started the fic because they both had blanket "permission to play with my fic etc" on their profiles. It didn't seem like the remix author had prior permission other than the original author's profile's blanket permission (the author's response, when their fic was tagged on AO3 when the remix was posted, was words to the effect of "ohhhh, there's a really great remix by x now!" which didn't sound like specific advance permission was requested and granted first).
I've had art done spontaneously for a couple fics of mine for which no specific permission was requested -- I didn't even know art was in the works for a couple of my fics until it suddenly appeared (but it would have been, and was, fine with me, though; that is stated in my profile, so it seemed like that's why they didn't ask, which was fine).
So I figured advanced permission was not required for this fic, given the primary and remix authors' profiles' blanket permissions and both fics being over a decade old. But, you tell me. Do people do that for podfic and remixes if the original author has blanket permission granted in their profile? I mean, I'll request it from both, if that's required for dsc6dbb, I just didn't know I had to.
