Just a friendly reminder that tomorrow is the deadline for signing up, which means you still have a bit of time to add your name to this year's list :)

Question about online discussion of BB WIPs

[personal profile] desireearmfeldt 2017-03-30 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, by the way:

1) A bunch of us were talking about having some informal extra support chat/weekly check-ins over at < a href="http://forums.bothsidesoftheborder.com/index.php?sid=25055ae34bfe7c8f4369fca6a7b70709">Both Sides Of The Border (sl_walker and ride_4ever's new DS/C6D/Twin Peaks forum). Mods, participants, and cheerleaders would be welcome to join us there.

2) And we were wondering whether it would be okay for people to post snippets as part of that chatting? (That is, would it violate the "must not have posted any part of the piece" regulation?)

Hmmm...being one of the admins I try to read everything at BSotB, but I didn't see this topic. Watching with interest now to see what comes of your question.

It came up in the course of a rambling discussion about various things in the NaNoWriMo topic that started as "why did they pick November?" :)

Ah. I see now...I just went looking for it under the "why did they pick November" discussion. I didn't catch it at first because it's a sub-topic.

1. The thing we're thinking of doing is discussion threads rather than real time chats. (It's less fun & interactive than the skype chats, but is good for quickie "how many words have we written?" type stuff, and can be a good supplement for those in incompatible time zones.)

2. Both Sides of the Border is a forum, so it'd be more like comments on an LJ post than like comments in a Skype chat. But (if I understood what the person who suggested it had in mind) it'd be like one of those memes where you post a few sentences of your WIP, not like publishing a chapter on your blog. I'm not sure where that falls on your spectrum of okayness? :)

Working partially through Both Sides might help with recruiting betas and possibly later complementary workers, too, given we have a cross-section of Tumblr users as well.
